Colossians 3:15- “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body, and BE THANKFUL.”

Moving Day

After almost two years of construction, our family’s new home here at camp was finally completed this past May. We did a whirlwind move/dump, and held an open house on Memorial Day. God has been so good to provide this new space. After living in an A-frame cabin for almost four years, all five of us have enjoyed spreading out and being able to entertain guests. We’re so grateful to the many generous individuals and churches that gave of their time and money to complete this project debt-free. We pray that, in the coming years, this home will not only be a haven for our family but a blessing to many others as well.

Summer Camp

We spend so much time anticipating the summer camping program, and then, in just a matter of weeks, it’s over. What a wonderful summer God gave us! Individuals and families enjoyed the camp for various week-long and weekend events at the beginning of the summer. We then worked quickly to transform Peniel into a military base as we hosted four weeks of Maneuvers for our junior and teen camps. Izaac assumed the role of drill instructor and provided games and entertainment. Marines, stationed here in Columbus, visited the camp each Monday and interacted with the campers. We’re thankful for the counseling staff God provided this year and for the many decisions that were made. Carson attended his final week of Junior Camp, and Ashlyn and Brenna attended their final week of Teen 1. Kim served as Head Counselor for two weeks of youth camps and also provided support for both the camp store and the craft program.

Back to School

People often ask us, “When do you get to slow down after your crazy summer schedule?” Well, NOT in the fall! The kids just started back for a new school year at Northside Christian again, with the girls as sophomores and Carson beginning his first year of junior high. Kim continues to coach volleyball for Ashlyn and Brenna’s varsity team and substitute teaches when possible; Carson plays middle school soccer; and Izaac refs public school soccer several nights a week, while also working as Legislative Director for BCSA. Yes, our life is crazy and busy, but we’re so thankful for the opportunities God gives us to interact with others outside of the camp this time of the year.
