An update on the ministry of Peniel Bible Camp

February 2015

We are praising the Lord for the provision of all the funds necessary to complete the Program Director’s house. This past month the chimney was completed and wood burning stove installed, interior walls were primed, bathrooms were painted, and installation of floor tile has was started. We anticipate a moving date around the first of April.

Household Shower on March 14

Ladies are invited to a Household Shower for Kim VanderSchel on Saturday, March 14 at 1:00 p.m. When the V’s moved into the A-frame cabin, they had to get rid of things that just didn’t fit. Now the Lord has blessed them with a house where they will be able to entertain missionaries and camp guests. While most ladies were not able to help with the building of the house, many would like to help furnish the home. We have asked Kim to register at several sites online to give an idea of what things she needs for their home. The almost-completed house will be open for tours that day. Contact registrar@obf.net for more details and to let us know how many guests we should plan on that afternoon.

Timber!!!

With a large number of ash trees on our property, we have seen the result of the Emerald Ash Borer. We have contracted with a local Amish man to take down the dead or dying trees on our property and receive bids for the logs. The main parts of the trees are sold but there is plenty of firewood available for cutting and taking at no charge. Contact Nathan Fry for more information.

Camp Clean-up

Clean-up days have been scheduled for Saturdays, April 11 and 25. Much help is needed to get our buildings ready for the camping season.

Father/Son Retreat

This weekend retreat (May 1-2) is a wonderful opportunity for fathers to get away and spend time with their sons at Peniel Bible Camp. Pastor Gordon Dickson (Calvary Baptist Church, Findlay) will be the speaker.

Be in prayer for Pastor Tony Garren, director of this Retreat. His car slid on “black ice” in January and he suffered a broken pelvis.

Needed: Godly Men and Women

Each year approximately 145 staff positions need to be filled by volunteers in order for Peniel Bible Camp to operate. Counselors, kitchen workers, custodians, and nurses are needed for week-long camps and weekend retreats. Staff applications are available from your pastor, Ken Perry or on our website.

Make Your Camp Plans for 2015

It might not seem as though summer is around the corner, but it won’t be long before it’s time for camp. Brochures for all the camps (spring and fall retreats and summer camps) have been mailed to churches and individuals who have attended camp and registrations are being accepted. Brochures are also available online. Campers may register through the mail with a check or online with a credit card. Register early and take advantage of early discounts.

Enlisting Youth Campers

Boys and girls in grades 3 through 12 are encouraged to attend a week of youth camp at Peniel Bible Camp. This year there will be four brigades of soldiers, each from a different branch of the military, all doing their best to prove their excellence in the midst of conflict. Besides the excitement of competition, God’s Word will go forth clearly in the chapel services twice daily. With counselors working one-on-one with campers, we pray that God will work in the hearts of campers and staff as He molds them into the persons that He would have them to be. 2015 logoNew for 2015
The first two weeks of youth camp will both be open for young people who have completed the 3rd through 6th grades. This will allow families/churches to send all their junior campers to the same week of camp if they wish. The two weeks will be similar but have different speakers, directors, and counselors.

DSCN93563786Speakers for youth camps are:
· Pastor Matt Austin (Junior Week 1 directed by Pastor Dave Layton)
· Pastor Joel McAllister (Junior Week 2 directed by Pastor Stephen Howard)
· Dr. Dan Olinger (Teen 1 Camp, directed by Pastor Paul Hamilton)
· Pastor Mike Hixson (Teen 2 Camp, directed by Pastor Paul Martin)

Youth campers who register by April 1st will receive a free theme-related T-shirt upon arrival at camp.
