Speaker: Dr. Dan Olinger
Dan recently retired as a professor of Bible at Bob Jones University. He holds a PhD in theology and taught courses in theology, New Testament, and Old Testament, while having special interests in ecclesiology and the Pauline Epistles. During summers he often led BJU ministry teams to Africa.
Over the years, he has taught Bible courses in China, India, Ghana, Kenya, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Saipan, St. Vincent, South Africa, Togo, and Zambia. For a period of time he served on the boards of the Shanghai Institute of Health Sciences and Mission to Haiti. He has had the opportunity to write extensively for publications of BJU Press, and it has been his privilege to speak occasionally at churches, camps, and educational conferences. He believes that Bible teaching should be understandable and lively but also thorough and well researched.
He and his wife, Pam, have two grown daughters. He has occasionally acted in dramatic productions at BJU. Regarding personal adventures, he has ridden a bicycle from Boston to Greenville, SC, and has made the second highest bungee jump in the world, at Victoria Falls, Zambia. He throws a baseball with his right hand and a football with his left. (It's complicated.) He earned both a brown belt in judo and EMT certification, but that was a long time ago.
He blogs at danolinger.com.
